{simply healthy and delicious} frozen strawberry lemonade

Summer days are warming up and nothing tastes quite as refreshing as a slushy, frozen drink on a hot afternoon. My oldest son pulled an idea from our {summer idea jar} today that read “make yummy homemade frozen strawberry lemonade.”  This is one of our favorite frozen drinks to make during the warm summer months and so I thought I would share it with you!

This recipe is so super easy and really quite healthy! Just add the ingredients to your blender and give it a whirl! This batch makes enough for 2 large servings but I actually find that it is plenty for each of my three kiddos to have a small glass full and enough left over for me, too!

{frozen strawberry lemonade}

  • 2 cups of homemade lemonade (whatever recipe you like)
  • 1 frozen banana (slice it up before you freeze it!)
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup of ice
  • a squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Place all in your blender. Add the ice last. Blend until smooth and frothy. Yum!

This is very refreshing and actually quite healthy! There is no added sugar apart from however much you use in your homemade lemonade. The addition of the banana makes it deliciously sweet and smooth.

I hope you try it out and enjoy it as much as my kiddos do!

{ps~this mixture freezes really well for making frozen popsicles!}

Blessings,

~Heather

  7. thanks for the follow, Heather! I wonder, would this work with frozen or from-a-mix lemonade? I know the homemade version is so much better, but I don't have a citrus juicer so it would be a lot of squeezing lemons!

    1. It totally would! Any lemonade will do:) I know what you mean about squeezing a lot of lemons! I love that my oldest son likes to help in that department;)
